A few years ago, a top UPDF general made shocking revelations on the fear of poisoning in President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni’s cabinet, High Command and Parliament.
In 2015, Gen David Sejusa (previously Tinyefuuza), who the Museveni administration considers a renegade general, said the issue of fear of poisoning should be addressed.
Speaking to Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) leaders on electoral democracy in Uganda and the trust in the country’s Electoral Commission (EC), Sejusa said top politicians and senior UPDF officers were afraid of being poisoned.
Sejusa said most officials carry their own water, chapatis and samosas to meetings for fear of being poisoned.
“Is it okay when every member of the High Command when we are going to meet packs a chapatti, samosa in the pocket?” wondered Sejusa.
“It means there’s a serious problem in the country, which we need to resolve but people do not understand that. If we who are inside the army, cabinet, parliament cannot trust each other, you cannot serve me tea and
I take it. Forget about other things.”
He went on to says that he does not just eat in hotels since he fears he can be poisoned.
It is these statements that FDC spokesperson and Kira Municipality MP Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda alluded to during April 12 plenary.
According to Ssemujju, some MPs have STOPPED EATING FOOD FROM PARLIAMENT CANTEEN FOR FEAR OF BEING POISONED. (Read Story HERE).
