Speaker Anita Annet Among has shot down queries related to claims that Jacob L’Okori Oulanyah, the former speaker of the 11th Parliament, was poisoned.
During April 12 plenary, Kira Municipality MP Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda asked whether Speaker Among and the administration of Parliament was aware of allegations made by Nathan Okori, Oulanyah’s father, that his son was poisoned.
During his son’s burial ceremony, Oulanyah’s father Nathan Okori INSISTED THAT HIS SON WAS POISONED. (Read Story Here).
Police has since SUMMONED Oulanyah’s father Okori and several other people over the former speaker’s poisoning claims. (Read Story Here).
A senior Museveni government minister has blasted police spokesperson Fred Enanga for summoning him over the poisoning claims. (Read Story Here).
In response to Ssemujju’s question, Speaker Among said there was one person who would offer answers to these claims but it was too late since he was deceased.
According to Among claims by Mzee Okori are “a mere hearsay” which is being probed.
“It’s just that we cannot now confirm from the late [and ask him:] ‘is it what you said?” said Among.
“But all that said and done, the investigations are going on.”
