Kira Municipality MP Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda has claimed that some of his colleagues have started shunning food from Parliament’s Canteen for fear of being poisoned.
During April 12, Ssemujju asked presiding speaker Anita Annet Among whether she was aware of reports that some MPs have labelled Parliament’s canteen ‘unsafe’ over fear that their food could be laced with poison.
“They complained to this parliament that there was an attempt to poison them in the canteen of Parliament,” Ssemujju, who is also the FDC spokesperson, told Speaker Among.
But Speaker Among insisted that Parliament was safe and nobody would be poisoned.
“Now, if the meetings don’t take place in Parliament, then why would you say that Parliament is insecure, and say that there is insecurity in Parliament in terms of poisoning,” responded Among.
“For us in Parliament, there is no poison: we are safe.”
