Gen Moses Ali, Uganda’s second deputy prime minister, aged 86, is seeking reelection for another five-year term as MP for Adjumani West Constituency.
He picked nomination forms to express his interest standing for MP again on the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) ticket.
MP for the same constituency since 2011, Gen Moses Ali believes he still has what it takes to represent thousands of his constituents despite his advanced age.
If his Adjumani West voters see him worthy of another term as MP, Gen Moses Ali will be 92 years old by the time he completes that term of five years in 2031.
Yet Moses Ali is not only old but he is frail. In public, he is seen shaking in his chair and he struggles to keep standing.
But old as he is, Moses Ali seems to be popular among voters – at least if results of the 2021 election are anything to go by.
As The Pearl Times has previously reported, Moses Ali was the flag bearer for ruling National Resistance Movement.
He got 10,227 votes, beating Patrick Tandrupasi of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) who garnered 6,891 votes, independent candidates Santos Gabriel Adrawa who garnered 1,836 votes, Dominic Asusi Andama with 1,145 votes, Philip Irama Tolu with 934 votes, Henry Ajirika Drasiku who got 603 votes and Gasper Draga with 202 votes.
In April 2025, a video of old and sick Deputy PM Moses Ali asking voters for another term shocked Ugandans, as reported Here.
Previously, Gen Moses Ali collapsed in Parliament, appeared weak, frail and struggling with a strange disease. Ugandans have also demanded answers on Gen Moses Ali’s health condition and have been telling President Museveni to fire the old man and let him retire. (See Details Here, There and Over There).
