Officials from assessment body Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb) are expected to brief Janet Kataaha Museveni, the country’s minister of education and sports, ahead of the release of the release of the 2022 end of O-level (Senior Four – S4) Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) results.
In October and November 2022, a total of 349,455 candidates sat their UCE examinations. Of these, 175,923 or 50.3 per cent were males, while 173,522 or 49.7 per cent were females sat for the 2022 examinations.
Up to 114,200 or 32.7 per cent of the candidates were registered under the Universal Secondary Education (USE) program while 235,245 or 77.3 per cent were non-USE, which includes private schools.
A total of 16,059 more candidates registered for UCE in 2022 than in 2020. In 2020, up to 333,396 candidates — 1166,744 males and 166,652 females — registered for end of O-level examinations.
In 2022, 51 candidates sat their UCE examination papers at Luzira while 45 sat from the same centre in 2020.
All the candidates are now expected to know how they performed soon, Uneb said on Wednesday, February 08, 2023. While the examinations body did not reveal when the results would be exactly released, The Pearl Times has learnt that Uneb officials were expected to meet education minister Janet Museveni to brief her on the performance in the examinations.
State Minister for Higher Education John Chrysostom Muyingo has been quoted, saying that there was a possibility that the UCE results would be released on Thursday, February 09, 2023. But some sources at Uneb said the results were likely to be out on Friday, February 10, 2023 or some time next week. Uneb is expected to make an official announcement on the date and time of the release of the results soon.
UCE results will be the second set of national exams to be released following the release of the 2022 PLE results on January 27, 2023.
