Parental Care Primary School Bushenyi has once again topped the Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality as the best performing school in the recently released 2024 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) results.
Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality outshone all districts, cities and municipalities of Uganda in 2024 PLE, and Parental Care Primary School has become the poster child of that academic excellence that the municipality has become known for over the year.
With 81 candidates, Parental Care Primary School Bushenyi had an average aggregate score of 8.48, which is one of the best in Western Uganda, and in the country, generally.
The school had 76 of all its candidates passing in first grade or division one (from aggregate four to aggregate 12), while the rest (only five) passed in the second grade.
In PLE 2024, eight candidates scored aggregate 5; 11 scored aggregate six; eight candidates scored aggregate seven while 18 scored aggregate eight.
This was the best performance of any school in Uganda’s top performing municipality of Bushenyi-Ishaka which had a total of 1,561 candidates sitting at 37 Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb) centres or schools.
With nearly 94 per cent of candidates at Parental Care Primary School Bushenyi passing in the first grade, the division one rate is almost two times higher than the average for Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality which stands at 52.1 per cent (or 814 first grades) out of a candidature of 1,561.
Even in the previous PLE sittings, Parental Care Primary School Bushenyi topped Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality and was among Uganda’s top best performing schools. In 2023 PLE, for example, all its 89 candidates passed in the first and second grades only. (See Details and full results Here).
Trevor Yebazamukama, the Parental Care Primary School Bushenyi Director, told The Pearl Times that the school administrators were grateful to God for the efforts made by the teachers and parents in ensuring that the candidates excel in every PLE sitting.
“We thank God for rewarding the hard work of our candidates. Coupled with the fear of God and cooperation among school stakeholders, especially pupils, parents, teachers and our support staff, Parental Care Primary School Bushenyi has been able to maintain excellent performance over the years,” said Yebazamukama.
“We promise to keep doing our best to make our pupils excel in academics and extracurricular activities like debate, music, dance and drama at national and continental levels.”
