First lady Janet Museveni, Uganda’s Minister of Education and Sports, has announced Senior One selection exercise and reporting dates shortly before releasing 2024 PLE results.
Minister Ms Museveni released results from the 2024 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) at State House Nakasero in Kampala on Thursday, January 23, 2025.
She urged candidates who failed to consider repeating and advised parents to consider helping their children who passed to undergo O-level, after which they can think of other options like TVET.
“The encouragement I have for all those that passed PLE is that there are various opportunities for post-primary education in Secondary Schools as well as TVET. And to those learners whose PLE results have not met their expectations, I encourage you to persevere and give PLE another try.
As I stated last year, learners repeating P.7 in UPE schools, are still eligible to benefit from the capitation grant,” Janet Museveni said.
“However, for parents who may want to consider a career in TVET for their children, I want to urge you to encourage and motivate them to aspire to complete at least O-level.
This is because Lower Secondary Education is vital in getting learners grounded in basic knowledge of the natural sciences such as physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, and other earth sciences that are vital as foundational knowledge in TVET. So please do not limit your child’s aspirations to merely completing Primary Seven.”
Janet Museveni also announced the dates for the selection exercise for Senior One as well as the reporting dates.
“The Selection Exercise for Senior One will take place on the 30th and 31st of January 2025. The Ministry of Education and Sports will communicate the further details,” she said.
“We expect First Term for the Senior One cohort of 2025 to commence on Monday the 17th of February 2025.”
