First son and chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has promoted former army and defence ministry spokesperson Colonel Paddy Ankunda to the rank of Brigadier General.
Others promoted by Gen Muhoozi, who is also the senior presidential advisor on special operations, is Major General Francis Okello who has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General.
Gen Muhoozi also promoted Colonel Godfrey Karugaba to the rank of Brigadier General.
The promoted officers will hold the acting ranks until they are fully promoted, The Pearl Times has learnt.
“The CDF/SPA/SO, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has granted acting ranks to the following Generals & Senior Officers for meritorious service: 1. Major General Francis Okello promoted to Lieutenant General 2. Colonel Godfrey Karugaba promoted to Brigadier General 3. Colonel Paddy Ankunda promoted to Brigadier General,” said UPDF in a statement.
“The UPDF fraternity congratulates the Generals on their well-deserved promotions.”
In recent months, Muhoozi had elevated a number of UPDF officers in rank and positions.
