EXPOSED: Shock as Amount of Money Each MP Was Paid to Play in Muhoozi Birthday Football Match is Revealed

A senior opposition politician has claimed that his colleague Members of Parliament (MPs) were paid money to play in a football match between Parliament and national army UPDF generals.

The game was played at the Philip Omondi Stadium in Kampala as part of celebrations to mark the 48th birthday of first son Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who is the Commander of the UPDF Land Forces, and senior advisor to his father President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni on special operations.

The game, which Parliament won, was presided over by Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa, who insisted the main goal was to promote unity between the legislature and the national army.

Almost all those who participated in the match, which Kibanda North MP Linos Ngompek and Kitgum District Woman Representative Lillian Aber lobbied Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen Wilson Mbasu Mbadi for, were said to be staunch supporters of the first son and his Muhoozi Project

But now, Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, the Spokesperson of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), and who doubles as the Kira Municipality MP, has claimed  that these MPs do not love the president’s son but rather went because of money.

MP Ssemujju made the revelation as he countered veteran journalist Andrew Mujuni Mwenda who had claimed that Muhoozi was popular and that it was not him who was behind the his birthday celebrations across the country, but rather a group of his staunch supporters who want him to succeed his father Museveni as president.

“I can tell you from very good authority that Muhoozi is not involved in organizing these birthday parties. It might sound strange, but these are grassroots initiatives,” said Mwenda as he submitted during May 05 night NBS Frontline show.

But Ssemujju says each MP who played in the Muhoozi Cup between Parliament and UPDF generals pocketed an equivalent of about Shs700,000 Uganda Shillings for accepting to step on the pitch.

“MPs went to play football to celebrate Muhoozi’s birthday, and they were paid $200. Mwenda is saying these are grassroots movements, but people are being paid,” said Ssemujju.

Meanwhile, Muhoozi is set to announce his political campaign program for the 2026 presidential election. (Read Story Here).
