Uproar as Museveni Advisor Namyalo Gifts Five-Year-Old Son ‘Expensive Car’ at Mega Birthday Party

Kampala, UgandaSenior Presidential Advisor Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye has ignited public debate after presenting her five-year-old son with a brand-new car during an extravagant birthday celebration at her residence in Kampala.

The star-studded event, held in honour of her son Rayan’s fifth birthday, attracted family members, close allies, and several prominent figures. What started as a private family function quickly turned into one of the city’s most widely discussed social occasions.

The defining moment of the celebration came when Namyalo—an advisor to Yoweri Museveni and Head of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC)—revealed a sleek vehicle estimated to be worth between Shs100 million and Shs150 million at bond price in Kampala. The car is associated with the Jetour line, a fast-emerging Chinese premium SUV brand under Chery Holding Group, established in 2018. Known for its “Travel+” philosophy, Jetour produces modern, tech-oriented models such as the T2, Dashing, and X70 series, and has been steadily expanding into international markets.

The unveiling sparked excitement among guests, as both children and adults gathered around to witness the presentation of the luxury mini ride.

Speaking during the celebration, Namyalo expressed deep affection for her son, noting that she wanted to mark his birthday with a meaningful gesture that reflects how much he is valued, adding that the gift was less about material value and more about celebrating the happiness he brings into their lives.

Beyond the headline-making gift, the party also served as a high-profile social gathering, drawing influential attendees and adding prestige to the occasion. The venue was transformed into a lively, themed setting with bright decorations, while guests enjoyed a variety of food and drinks suited for both young and adult attendees.

Entertainment included energetic music performances and interactive activities, creating a festive and engaging atmosphere throughout the day.

Despite the celebratory mood, the gesture has triggered mixed reactions. Some observers applauded it as a striking display of a parent’s love and achievement, while others questioned whether such a show of wealth was appropriate given the country’s economic realities.

Namyalo also owns a multi-billion mansion in Kyanja.

Known for her strong public presence and active community involvement, Namyalo has once again captured national attention—this time with a celebration that fused personal joy with public scrutiny.

Ugandans on X have been reacting to the gift. Our social media editor samples some of the comments.

“Ugandans, especially those who are struggling and those fighting corruption, this is to let you know that Uzeiye Hadijah Namyalo, the Head of the Office of the National Chairman, has bought her son, Rayan, a brand-new Jetour T2 worth $60,000 (UGX 230 million). And her monthly salary cannot even buy a brand new motorcycle,” wrote Frank Mwesigye.

“Hadija Namyalo is in hot soup. I dont know where she got the money but showing off often leads to trouble,” wrote Paul Owuor.

“I don’t see any problem here apart from being jealous and sending Bucyayi to the community concluding like that it was not necessarily surely Hadijj Namyalo Uzeiy you can even buy helicopter for your child, does he knows the father of the son, source of income for Hadijj, let us work,” opined a one Gerald Agaba.

Corruption and embezzlement became a privilege in Uganda. In organisations where embezzlement is not tolerated, employees will say, “okwo tihakiriyo sente”. Meaning no room for stealing. So, pple are against Namyalo not b’coz she stole, but might have stolen more than they have,” wrote a one Jonathan Kankiriho.

Museveni advisor Namyalo was previously on the spot over the Iranian scholarships scandal as Ugandan students reportedly resorted to pr0stitut!on, as detailed Here and There.
