Deputy speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among has directed first lady Janet Kataaha Museveni’s Ministry of Education and Sports to present a plan for the reopening of schools next week.
Among, also the Bukedea District Woman MP, issued the orders to the ministry of education after concerns from the MPs on the uncertainty regarding the reopening of schools.
Kalungu West MP Joseph Gonzaga Ssewungu demanded to know when Ms Museveni’s education ministry will update the House and the nation on the reopening of education institutions,
MP Ssewungu also wanted to know what measures were being put in place to ensure safe reopening of schools.
In response to Ssewungu’s concern, Among directed the education minister to present a comprehensive report in seven days .
In particuar, the deputy speaker directed junior education minister in charge of higher education John Chrysostom Muyingo to present the report.
Muyingo is expected to present the report next Thursday.
A phased reopening plan was disrupted by the second wave of Covid19 in June 2021.
