The Ministry of Education and Sports says a consultative meeting between First Lady Janet Museveni and Members of Parliament on plans for the safe reopening of schools has been pushed to yet-to-be-announced date.
The meeting was meant to happen today, Wednesday, November 24, at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.
But during November 23 plenary, opposition MPs told Speaker Oulanyah it would flout the rules of procedure for MPs to honour Minister Janet Museveni’s ‘summons’ to Kololo instead of her appearing before the House.
Shortly after the stormy parliamentary debate on the matter, the ministry of education and sports announced the postponement of the consultative meeting.
“POSTPONEMENT: The Meeting between Ministry of Education and Sports and Members of Parliament that was scheduled for Wednesday, November 24, 2021 has been postponed,” announced the Ministry. “Note:a new date shall be communicated.”
