Bobi Wine
A group of National Unity Platform (NUP) youths have stormed party offices for the Lango sub region in Lira, and burnt t-shirts before meeting ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) vice chairperson for northern Uganda Jacob Oulanyah.
Nicholas Obutu, a self-styled Lira City ghetto president, listed the youths’ problems to Oulanyah, who is also the deputy speaker of the national parliament.
Obutu told Oulanyah the Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni administration had neglected the youths, and it was high time it gave them the attention they deserve.
He further explained why he and his group of Lira City ghetto youths had shunned Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi and his NUP.
The youths, he explained, were annoyed with Bobi Wine and NUP for failing to push for their release from police detention following their arrest during the singer-turned-politician’s rallies in the city.
As an expression of anger, the youths wore t-shirts bearing Museveni’s picture, stormed the NUP regional office for Lango, and burnt down the party’s red caps and t-shirts.
After burning the attires at NUP office located in Odokomit Trading Centre in Lira City, they began singing Museveni praises and chanting NRM’s ‘securing your future’ slogan.
On December 18, yet-to-be-identified people broke into the office and stole money, registers and party promotional materials.
