NUP Candidate Wins Mbarara University (MUST) Guild Presidency; Bobi Wine Congratulates Him, Warns Him against Traps

Lucky Ariho Rwabuturumba Becomes MUST’s 37th Guild President

NUP Candidate Wins Mbarara University (MUST) Guild Presidency; Bobi Wine Congratulates Him, Warns Him against Traps

Lucky Ariho Rwabuturumba wins MUST guild presidency

The National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate has won the Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) guild presidency. NUP candidate Lucky Ariho Rwabuturumba becomes MUST’s 37th guild president.

Lucky Ariho Rwabuturumba is a fourth year student pursuing a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree.

The MUST Guild Electoral Commission declared Lucky Ariho Rwabuturumba the duly elected guild president of Mbarara University of Science and Technology on Friday, April 11, 2025.

Lucky Ariho Rwabuturumba garnered 2,150 votes to secure a comfortable victory against Henry Ssebyatika, his closest challenger.

Ssebyatika, a second year student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Education degree, was the  candidate for the National Resistance Movement (NRM).

Sebyatika managed 1,451 votes.

NUP president Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine congratulated Lucky Ariho Rwabuturumba on his victory.

Bobi Wine also saluted the NUP team in Western Uganda as well as the party’s institutions unit.

“Congratulations, comrade Lucky Ariho upon your victory as Guild President of Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST)! Thank you for carrying the NUP flag with courage and pride,” Bobi Wine wrote.

“Thank you too, our team in Western Uganda led by Deputy President Jolly Jacklyn Tukamushaba, and the NUP Institutions team, for this great result!”

But Bobi Wine warned Lucky Ariho Rwabuturumba against traps that he may encounter on his way.

“Now that you have won, please be on your guard against the many traps that will be laid for you to betray the people’s struggle for freedom,” the NUP principal told Ariho.

“I charge you to remain vigilant at all times!”

Elsewhere, another guild president, Bobi Wine’s nephew who leads Makerere University’s students’ guild, set the record earlier on calls on him to apologize or resign over a photo with President Yoweri Museveni, as reported Here.
