Museveni and Oulanyah
President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni has described parliament’s speakership as a “very dangerous” job, making it clear that he would not have allowed Jacob Oulanyah to contest to become speaker if he had known about his health challenges.
On April 02, former speaker Rebecca Kadaga revealed that she learnt of Oulanyah’s sickness by accident although she claimed she and her former deputy had a good working relationship. (Read Story Here).
In May 2021, Oulanyah was elected speaker, trouncing a defiant Kadaga. (Read Story Here).
But even during the heated campaigns for the 11th Parliament speaker, Oulanyah was already sick.
Now, speaking during the national funeral service for the former speaker, Museveni said he would have asked Oulanyah not to contest for speakership if he had known about his health condition.
He added that he would not advise anyone with health issues to take up the ‘dangerous’ speaker job.
“He was involved in all the politics in Omoro, CEC etc, If I had known, I would have told him to concentrate on his health,” said Museveni.
“That speakership is very dangerous, sitting there the whole day. You shouldnt accept that if you have some health issues.”
Meanwhile, Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo has made some shocking revelations about Oulanyah, including when he sang a funeral song for himself. (Read Story HERE).
