Museveni: When People Die, It Doesn’t Mean that God Has Called Them; Otherwise Why Does God Like Calling Africans?

President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni has questioned the belief that when people die, it means that God has called them.

Speaking during the national funeral service for the late Jacob Oulanyah at the Kololo Independence Grounds on April 06, Museveni wondered why God only likes calling Africans in large numbers.

The president challenged African leaders to deal with the issues that lead to death on the continent, instead of attributing every person’s demise to God’s calling.

“This business of ‘God has called him.’ Why does God call only Africans? The average life expectancy of Japanese is 79. Why doesn’t he call Japanese?” asked Museveni.

“It is not God calling these Africans. We must look at the causes of these deaths.”

The president also urged religious leaders to rally people to develop themselves and they are country even when they are sojourners passing through the world, with their eyes on heaven.

“I think we need to harmonise with the church. This idea that we are visitors on earth and we are in transit, let us manage it well. We must develop our country,” said Museveni.
