President Museveni’s younger brother Godfrey Aine Sodo Kaguta has joined the race for Mawogola North MP race after his participation in the elections for the same seat in the 2021 elections was unsuccessful.
Godfrey Aine Sodo Kaguta was then up against Shartis Musherure, daughter of former foreign affairs minister Sam Kutesa.
After chaos and election postponements, Musherure became the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) flagbearer and became the MP for the constituency in the parliamentary elections of 2021.
Now, Godfrey Aine Sodo Kaguta has picked nomination forms from the NRM Electoral Commission (EC) and says he will contest for the parliamentary seat in the NRM primaries.
Sodo said his elder brother President Museveni had given him permission to contest in Mawogola North.
He claimed that he had been on ground helping the people of Mawogola North, including getting the poor clothes and building mosques.
It should be remembered that in the 2021 elections, Aine Sodo withdrew from the race in favour of Kutesa’s daughter Musherure after months of a political battle that reminded many of the day Kutesa beat Museveni in a parliamentary election. (See Details Here and There).
Meanwhile, a top Museveni minister has retired from politics as Kasaija, Muhwezi ask for one more term, as reported Here.
