Delegates at the ongoing national conference of Uganda’s ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) continue to elect leaders of the party’s central executive committee (CEC) and parliamentary flagbearers. President Yoweri Museveni has suspended elections for the NRM entrepreneurs league following allegations of bribery and hiding of delegates in hotels and neighboring countries in the race pitting Hassan Basajjabalaba against Ceasor Mulenga.
There have also been reports of fake delegates being ferried to Kololo to vote for some candidates in the NRM CEC elections and flagbearer polls.
Elections for youth MP flagbearers were also postponed amidst allegations of widespread bribery.
Former government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo has also defeated a Museveni minister to emerge as the NRM flagbearer for the eastern Uganda MP for the older persons, as reported Here.
We can also confirm that security minister Jim Muhwezi has lost his job as the NRM veterans league chairperson. (See Details Here).

East African Legislative Assembly (Eala) MP James Kakooza elected Elders League Central Region.
Former MP for Older Persons of Central Region Penninah Busingye Kabingani aka Maama Kisanja, has been elected National Elders League Chairperson.
Shafiq Mwanje was elected chairperson for Persons with Disabilities League
The Pearl Times Decision 2026 can confirm that a new chairperson of the NRM Women’s league has been elected to replace incumbent Lydia Wanyoto. (See Details Here).

Tanga Odoi has declared his son Tanga Collins as the newly elected chairperson for the NRM youth league in a contested election that stands challenged by closest opponent Brenda Kiconco. (See Details Here).
President Museveni has ordered a separate youth conference and another for the entrepreneurs at which they will elect their league leaders.
Speaker Anita Among is leading Rebecca Kadaga in the race for NRM CEC’s second national vice chairperson (female) according to provisional results. (See live Details Here).
The Pearl Times Decision Desk can also confirm that Capt Mike Mukula has withdrawn from the NRM CEC race for eastern Uganda’s vice chairperson in favour of Calvin Echodu. Also withdrawing from an NRM CEC race was Kiwanda Ssuubi. (See Details Here).
