Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine’s National Unity Platform (NUP) has released the burial program for Kawempe North MP Muhammad Ssegirinya.
Ssegirinya belonged to the NUP. He was a first time legislator.
A practising Muslim, Muhammad Ssegirinya would ordinarily have been buried today, Thursday, January 09, 2025.
But due to unavoidable circumstances regarding logistics, Ssegirinya’s family asked the Islamic leaders in Uganda to allow them bury ‘Mr Update’ on Sunday.
Activities to honor the life and legacy of Muhammad Ssegirinya will begin today, Thursday, January 09 2025, with a vigil at the NUP party headquarters in Makerere Kavule.
Here, supporters of the MP and his family are expected to pay tribute to Ssegirinya. His body will then be taken to Parliament on Friday, January 10 for a special session to pay tribute to him.
Speaker Anita Among has announced that the special sitting at parliament will begin at 9AM.
Thereafter, special prayers for Ssegirinya will be held at Mbogo Mosque in Kawempe. After the special prayers, the body of Ssegirinya will be transported to his home in Kasangati.
Ssegirinya will be laid to rest on Sunday, January 12 in Masaka.
