Senior Five Selection and Reporting Dates Announced LIST: Over 6000 Teachers, Non-Teaching Staff Shortlisted for Ankole, Kigezi Seed Schools’ Payroll Jobs

Education Minister Janet Museveni

First lady Janet Museveni’s Ministry of Education and Sports, through the Education Service Commission (ESC), has shortlisted over 6000 teachers (graduates – referred to as education officers – EO and diploma holders or assistant education officers – AEO) as well as non-teaching staff like enrolled nurses, laboratory assistants, library assistants, stenographer secretaries and senior accountant assistants, for aptitude tests for government payroll jobs in seed secondary schools in Ankole and Kigezi regions.

The 6,120 shortlisted candidates, according to a count done by The Pearl Times, are those who will be doing aptitude tests under Cluster 2  (Ankole and Kigezi), under the recruitment exercise for teachers and non-teaching staff for secondary seed schools under the Uganda Intergovernmental Fiscal Transfers Program (UGIFT).

The shortlisted candidates responded to ESC Advert No. 4/2024 published on December 23, 2024 for the posts of teaching staff or teachers – Education Officer (EO), and Assistant Education Officer (AEO); as well as Non-teaching Staff (NTS): Senior Accountant Assistant (SAA), Enrolled Nurses, Stenographer Secretaries, Library Assistants and Laboratory Assistants.

“All Applicants under Clusters 2, (Ankole and Kigezi Regions) will do the Aptitude Test from Wednesday the 21st May 2025 to Friday the 23rd May 2025 starting at 8:00am,” noted Dr Asuman Lukwago, Permanent Secretary of the Education Service Commission.

The lists of the 6,120 candidates include the Aptitude schedules showing UGIFT seed schools applied for, names of applicants and centre or venue for the test.

The key venue is Makerere University College of Computing and Information Science, according to lists obtained by The Pearl Times.

The ESC is expected to release the list of successful applicants who will be shortlisted for oral interviews after those shortlisted have done their aptitude tests.

“It will also include names of applicants directly shortlisted for oral interviews for different subjects in different schools under Cluster 2 (Ankole and Kigezi Regions) whose ratios did not require Aptitude Testing,” added Dr Lukwago.

“All Shortlisted applicants MUST appear for the Aptitude Tests as scheduled and must come along with National Identity Cards.”

He further made it clear that applicants whose names do not appear on the shortlist should consider themselves unsuccessful. He added that all services by the Education Service Commission are free of charge.

The list of the over 6,120 includes candidates who applied to schools such as Bukinda Seed S S in Rukiga District, Kitojo Seed SS in Mitooma District, Ruhija Seed SS in Rubanda District and Rwanyamahembe Seed SS in Mbarara District.

Others include St Kizito High School Magambo in Rubirizi District, Kanyamurera Seed SS in Bushenyi District, Ndibarema Memorial SS Nsiika in Buhweju District, and Nyabihoko Seed SS in Ntungamo District.
