LIST: See Names of 4800 Ugandans Shortlisted for Government Payroll Jobs in Uganda Prisons Per District (Warders and Wardresses)

Uganda Prisons officers

The Prisons Council has released a list with names of 4800 Ugandans shortlisted for government payroll jobs in Uganda Prisons as warders and wardresses.

The Secretary of the Uganda Prisons Service (UPS) Council released the shortlist about two months since the jobs were advertised in March 2025.

The 4800 shortlisted candidates were among the thousands of Ugandans who submitted their applications to their nearest prison units or one of the 19 regional prisons headquarters.

The 19 regional headquarters are South Eastern (Jinja), Iganga (Iganga), East Central (Mukono), Mid-Eastern (Soroti), Eastern (Mbale), North Eastern (Moroto), Kampala Extra (Luzira) or Central Region (Security House near Prisons Headquarters), North Central (Luwero), Mid-Western (Masindi), Southern (Masaka), Kooki (Lyantonde), North Western (Arua), Mid Northern (Lira), Northern (Gulu), South Western (Mbarara), Western (Fort Portal), Mid Central (Mubende), and Kigezi (Kabale).

The jobs are for Ugandans aged 18-30, and must possess a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), and diploma holders as well as degree holders were locked out of the application process.

The shortlist has been pinned on all UPS regional headquarters and Uganda Prisons Service headquarters notice boards, according to the secretary of the prisons Council.

“Candidates will also be contacted by SMS,” the secretary to the Uganda Prisons Council added in a statement.

The shortlisted candidates will go for both written and oral interviews on the dates and venues assigned for each district.

“The interviews will run from Monday 12th May 2025 to Friday 16th May 2025 and shall start at exactly 09:00am on each day,” added the secretary to the UPS council.

“Only shortlisted candidates should appear on the dates allocated to them to avoid overcrowding at the recruitment centres.”

Shortlisted candidates have been reminded to bring their original academic documents, and national identity card as submitted to the Secretary Prisons Council, a writing pad, and a pen.
