First lady Janet Museveni’s Ministry of Education and Sports, through the Education Service Commission (ESC), has shortlisted over 3800 teachers (graduates – referred to as education officers – EO and diploma holders or assistant education officers – AEO) as well as non-teaching staff like enrolled nurses, laboratory assistants, library assistants, stenographer secretaries and senior accountant assistants, for aptitude tests for government payroll jobs in seed secondary schools in Tooro and Bunyoro regions.
The over 3800 shortlisted candidates are those who will be doing aptitude tests under Clusters 6 and 7, (Tooro and Bunyoro), under the recruitment exercise for teachers and non-teaching staff for secondary seed schools under the Uganda Intergovernmental Fiscal Transfers Program (UGIFT).
The shortlisted candidates responded to ESC Advert No. 4/2024 published on December 23, 2024 for the posts of teaching staff or teachers – Education Officer (EO), and Assistant Education Officer (AEO); as well as Non-teaching Staff (NTS): Senior Accountant Assistant (SAA), Enrolled Nurses, Stenographer Secretaries, Library Assistants and Laboratory Assistants.
“All applicants under Clusters 6 and 7, (Tooro and Bunyoro) will do the Aptitude Test from Monday the 5th May to Saturday the 10′ and Monday the 12th May 2025 starting at 8:00 am,” noted Dr Asuman Lukwago, Permanent Secretary of the Education Service Commission.
The ESC is expected to release the list of successful applicants who will be shortlisted for oral interviews after those shortlisted have done their aptitude tests.
“It will also include names of applicants directly shortlisted for oral interviews for different subjects in different schools under Cluster 6 and 7, (Tooro and Bunyoro) whose ratios did not require Aptitude Testing,” added Dr Lukwago.
“All Shortlisted applicants MUST appear for the Aptitude Tests as scheduled and must come along with National Identity Cards.”
He further made it clear that applicants whose names do not appear on the shortlist should consider themselves unsuccessful. He added that all services by the Education Service Commission are free of charge.
The list of the over 3800 includes candidates who applied to schools such as Butungama Seed SS in Ntoroko, Bwesumbu Seed SS in Kasese District, Kanara Seed SS in Kitagwenda, Ruyonza Seed SS in Kyegegwa District, Kigaraale Seed SS in Kyenjojo District, Kibuuku Seed SS in Ntoroko District, St Mugaga Seed SS in Kibaale District and Katugunda Seed SS in Bunyangabu District.
Others include Kichwamba Seed SS in Kabarole District, Christ the King Seed SS in Masindi District, Kidururu Seed SS in Hoima District, Kigumba Seed SS in Kiryandongo District, Kihungya Seed SS in Bulisa District, Kijunjubwa Seed SS in Masindi District, Kidikuru Seed SS in Hoima District, King Solomon Seed SS in Kagadi District, Kitegwa Seed SS in Hoima District, and Kyangwali Seed SS in Hoima
