Former National Social Security Fund (NSSF) Managing Director Richard Byarugaba, former Vision Group CEO Robert Kabushenga, and Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Executive Director Frank Rusa did not make the shortlist of 12 who will proceed to the next level of assessment as the Public Service Commission (PSC) sieves candidates to pick the next city boss.
The PSC shortlist also has 19 people shortlisted for the KCCA Deputy ED job. Kabushenga, Byarugaba, Rusa and others have been given a number of days to file their appeals in case they are dissatisfied with the decision by the commission to exclude them from the shortlist for KCCA ED.
At least 40 jobs had applied for the KCCA ED job but only 12 had been shortlisted for further interviews, with former Financial Intelligence Authority (FIA) boss Sydney Asubo’s name now the most prominent.
“The Secretary, PSC informs all Applicants who applied for the posts of Executive Director, Scale KCCA 1 and Deputy Executive Director, Scale KCCA2, that were advertised under PSC External Advert No. MDA 2/2024, that the list of shortlisted candidates for the two posts have been released,” Dr John Geoffrey Mbabazi, the Secretary to the Public Service Commission, said in a statement.
“The Applicants that were not shortlisted and are aggrieved, are free to appeal to The Secretary, Public Service Commission before close of business on Wednesday, 13th November, 2024.”
It should be remembered that President Yoweri Museveni sacked Dorothy Kisaka as KCCA ED following the Kiteezi landfill tragedy that claimed over 30 Ugandans.
Museveni appointed Frank Rusa the acting KCCA ED and gave the Public Service Commission an ultimatum to hire a new city boss, as reported Here and There.
Meanwhile, the IGG has cancelled the contract awarded to a foreign firm to handle Kiteezi garbage, as reported Here and There.
