
The Education Service Commission (ESC) has officially released the shortlist of candidates selected for oral interviews for the position of Deputy Headteacher under government-funded Seed Secondary Schools across Uganda.
According to an announcement issued by the Commission following up on Internal Advert No. 5/2025 and the Addendum to Advert No. 5/2025, successful applicants will undergo oral interviews between June 10 and June 16, 2026.

In a notice signed by Dr. Asuman Lukwago, the Permanent Secretary of the Education Service Commission, shortlisted candidates have been advised to check the full list of successful applicants.
“The Secretary Education Service Commission informs shortlisted applicants for the Post of Deputy Headteacher advertised under Internal Advert No. 5/2025 and Addendum to Advert No. 5/2025, that the shortlists for successful candidates for oral interviews are hereby released,” the notice states.
The Commission said the interviews will be conducted at SESEMAT Hostel located within Kololo Senior Secondary School in Kampala.
“Successful candidates will be subjected to oral interviews from 10th to 16th June 2026,” the Commission announced.
It further noted that, “Oral interviews will be conducted in Kampala at SESEMAT Hostel, Kololo Senior Secondary School, starting at 8:00am each day.”
The recruitment exercise is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to hire staff for Seed Secondary Schools, which were established to expand access to secondary education across the country.
Candidates appearing for the interviews have been instructed to carry original copies of all academic and professional documents for verification purposes.
“Shortlisted candidates should come along with originals of their Academic/Professional Certificates and Transcripts, plus National Identity Cards,” the Commission said.
Applicants who submitted their applications online have been given additional requirements.
According to the notice, such candidates must present three sets of photocopies of the online application forms they completed, academic and professional certificates and transcripts, as well as employment-related documents.
The Commission warned candidates against seeking changes to their interview dates, emphasizing that the interview schedule is final.
“Candidates should endeavor to appear as scheduled; requests for rescheduling will not be accepted,” the notice reads.
The Commission also clarified that candidates whose names do not appear on the released shortlist should regard their applications as unsuccessful.
“Candidates whose names do not appear on the list should consider themselves unsuccessful,” ESC said.
In a special advisory to nursing mothers, the Commission said mothers intending to attend interviews with infants should make arrangements for caregivers.
“Mothers who intend to come with their babies should come along with baby sitters. Babies will not be allowed in the Examination Rooms,” the notice states.
The Education Service Commission also cautioned members of the public against paying money to individuals claiming to facilitate recruitment opportunities.
“Candidates should note that all services provided by Education Service Commission are FREE of charge,” the Commission emphasized.
The interviews come at a time when Uganda remains vigilant against the threat of Ebola outbreaks in the region. Consequently, the Commission announced that all interview activities will be conducted under strict health safety guidelines.
“The interviews will be conducted with total compliance to SOPs for prevention of Ebola Hemorrhagic Fever,” the notice adds.

The Commission has encouraged all shortlisted candidates to verify their details and interview schedules through the Education Service Commission website ahead of the exercise.
