As Uganda prepares for 2026 elections, the Electoral Commission is hiring up to 15 election officers or assistant district election administrators.
The election officer or assistant district election administrator will work under the Directorate of Operations in the Department of Field Operations and will report to the District Election Administrator or Returning Officer.
They will be paid under the ECS 5 Salary Scale and their tenure will be permanent. The election officers or assistant district election administrators will be stationed at District Electoral Commission Offices in Uganda.
Their key responsibilities will include to assist in drawing and implementing work plans for the District Electoral Commission office; maintaining records for the District Electoral Commission equipment and reusable materials; compiling periodic District Electoral Commission reports; assisting in supervision of subordinate staff; and Monitoring electoral activities in the district; nominations, campaigns and polling.
Election officers or assistant district election administrators will also be co-signatories to the district Electoral Commission bank account; will be responsible for counter signing payment vouchers; and will serve as minute secretaries to District meetings.
Regarding the Minimum Qualifications, applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honors Bachelors Degree in Arts, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Education, Business Administration, Law, IT, Procurement or a related field in Humanities from a recognized university or institution.
Preferred skills, competencies and personal attributes for election officers or assistant district election administrators are high moral character and integrity, ability to command respect, self-motivated and strategic thinkers, knowledge of Government Policies and Administrative Procedures, and excellent written and spoken English with strong report writing and presentation skills.
The others are excellent interpersonal and team work skills, capacity to work with senior personalities in different occupations, analytical and problem solving skills, as well as ability to work under tight deadlines and pressure. Applicants should be between ages 21 and 45.
On the mode of application, Applications with comprehensively typed CVs showing the applicant’s contact address with day time telephone numbers, addresses and day time telephone numbers of three referees, copies of certified academic transcripts and certificates should be sent to the Human Resource Office/Central Registry or mailed to Head, Human Resource Management Electoral Commission P.O. ox 22678 Kampala, not later than 17th January, 2025.
“Envelopes should be clearly marked at the top with the words “Application for the post of ASSISTANT DISTRICT ELECTION ADMINISTRATOR,” the commission guided in its job advert.
