From Eddie Mutwe to Noah Mutwe: Another Bobi Wine Bodyguard ‘Abducted’

From Eddie Mutwe to Noah Mutwe: Another Bobi Wine Bodyguard ‘Abducted’

Noah Mutwe, a bodyguard to main opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, has been abducted, the party leader said in the evening of Thursday, 15 May 2025.

The arrest of Noah Mutwe is the latest in the crackdown against Bobi Wine bodyguards. Other bodyguards, including Edward Ssebuufu aka Eddie Mutwe, are currently in Masaka Prison on charges of robbery.

Noah Mutwe was kidnapped from Gomba District, said Bobi Wine, who further noted that the abductors had compelled the bodyguard’s uncle to take them to his nephew.

“They came like thugs, travelling in a numberless double-cabin vehicle. They first picked Noah Mutwe’s uncle and put him on handcuffs before ordering him to take them to comrade Noah Mutwe’s home in Gombe,” noted Bobi Wine.

“They vi0lently abducted him and took him away. His whereabouts are not known.”

Bobi Wine noted that the abductions were meant to make Ugandans live in fear.

“They’re committing all these crimes against our people to instil fear in us and the entire population. But they’re giving us more reason to fight for a better country,” wrote Bobi Wine.

It was not clear where the kidnappers took Noah Mutwe, and over what charges.

Earlier on May 15, Muhoozi threatened to arrest Bobi Wine.

“We arrested KB [Kizza Besigye], then Eddie Mutwe, now I am promising you Kabobi [Bobi Wine]. You still think these are jokes? I haven’t started!” wrote Muhoozi.

He also threatened to end the life of any rioter, and bragged about Eddie Mutwe’s beating.

“Did I beat Eddie enough? Those who agree retweet. Those who disagree like. I’m very proud that our great army beat Eddie Mutwe to a pulp! And we are going to beat many more,” wrote Muhoozi on microblogging site X, formerly Twitter.

“If ANYBODY in NUP even dreams of starting a riot in Kampala, I promise to k!LL him or her. That’s a promise!”

Muhoozi also sent a warning Uganda Human Rights Commission boss Mariam Wangadya and demanded an apology from her for demanding the release of Eddie Mutwe in an official letter to him. Muhoozi also threatened to deport EU officials who met Bobi Wine this week. (See Details Here and There).

Later in the day, the EU honoured UHRC chairperson Wangadya for defending human rights at an event at the Swedish Ambassador’s residence where the Human Rights Defenders Award 2025 winner was announced. (See Details Here).

It should be remembered that Gen Muhoozi previously admitted holding Eddie Mutwe in his basement where he said Bobi Wine’s bodyguard was learning Runyankore. Muhoozi even asked Bobi Wine, ‘what will you do about it?” (See Details Here).

From what he has told Bobi Wine and his lawyers, Eddie Mutwe has revealed that he suffered inside torture chamber, including claims that he was injected with a strange drug and, having his pr!v@te parts squeezed, Here, There and Over There.

Bobi Wine has since written to Banyankore and Bakiga elders, challenging them to speak out against Muhoozi’s actions and tribal statements before it is too late. (See Details Here and There).
