Main opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine says he has written to elders in Ankole sub region reporting first son and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba over his actions and statements. Bobi Wine wants Banyankore elders to rein in Gen Muhoozi or at least condemn and distance themselves from his statements.
Last week, Gen Muhoozi used his account on microblogging site X, formerly Twitter, to reveal how he was holding Edward Ssebuuufu, popularly known as Eddie Mutwe, a bodyguard to Bobi Wine, in his basement and that he was learning Runyankore.
The statements have won Gen Muhoozi condemnation from some Ugandans who accuse him of stoking tribalism and of reveling on arrogant behavior.
Bobi Wine’s now says that he and his party’s top officials have decided to write to Banyankore elders to remind them of the need to condemn the acts of and words of Gen Muhoozi just in case they are not aware of what the first son and CDF wrote and did to Eddie Mutwe.
He also called on all Banyankore to condemn and distance themselves from Gen Muhoozi’s statements and actions, saying they make people from other regions of Uganda dislike them.
The Banyankore are among Uganda’s most populous tribes. (See number of people per tribe Here).
Bobi Wine also warned that if Banyankore elders and Banyankore of goodwill do not come out and condemn Muhoozi’s statements and actions, he could lead the country into trouble.
You can watch Bobi Wine’s message to Banyankore and Ankole elders Here.
It should be remembered that former army commander Maj Gen (Rtd) Mugisha Muntu has told President Museveni to do something about Muhoozi before it is too late. (See Details Here).
Meanwhile, Bobi Wine has said that Eddie Mutwe was rotting away in prison after he visited and talked to him, as reported Here.
Museveni has previously talked about tribalism, the army and Banyankore. (See Details Here, There and Over There).
