National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has told Ugandans to wake up and resist an alleged plot by Gen Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni, Uganda’s President, to crown his son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba as the country’s next head of state and government.

Gen Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni, the Ugandan president, has acknowledged that his son has made mistakes. But the 78-year-old long serving president defended his decision to promote his son from the rank of lieutenant general to a full general, top most rank in the national army, the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF). 

President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni has apologized to Ugandans and Kenyans over his son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s reckless Twitter posts (tweets).

Following first son Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s ‘Nairobi Capture’ posts on micro-blogging site Twitter, President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni’s government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has told Kenyans to stop taking social media posts as serious foreign policy statements. 

Uganda’s President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni has this morning held discussions — or what some suspect to have been some sort of grilling — with Lt Gen Muhoozi Kaineruga, his son, Commander of UPDF Land Forces and senior advisor on special operations, over ‘scary’ tweets on Nairobi capture. 

First son and Commander of UPDF Land Forces Lt Gen Muhoozi is Uganda’s tweeting general. Some of his tweets have been described as controversial because of how much they touch on issues of diplomacy and security that serving officers of the national army and cautious politicians would rather keep to themselves.
