Billions of shillings and millions of dollars were reportedly found in Anita Among Nakasero home during a search at one of the residences of the speaker of Uganda’s 11th parliament.
After the raid in Nakasero on Saturday, May 16, 2026, more raids are expected on the homes of the speaker and her husband, MP and Fufa president Moses Magogo, in Kigo, Bukedea and Buyende.

According to outgoing minister of state for children and youth affairs Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi, Anita Among was running “illegal central banks” in her homes and offices.
Without mentioning names, Balaam Barugahara said that billions of shillings had already been recovered and that by the morning of May 17, 2026, more millions of dollars and pounds were expected.
In Balaam Barugahara’s views, prisons should be emptied of thieves of chickens, goats, pigs, and pickpockets to “prepare enough room for operators of illegal ‘central banks’ and large-scale economic criminals hiding billions in homes and offices.”
He added: “Billions of Uganda shillings recovered, with more expected by morning alongside millions of dollars and British pounds.”
The exact amount found in Anita Among’s homes will be clear in coming hours.
He then praised first son, Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) chairperson Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba for the “tsunami” operation at
“Let the ‘tsunami’ continue until corruption, impunity, and economic sabotage are completely uprooted from Uganda,” Barugahara added.
Anita Annet Among has in recent years faced intense public scrutiny over her rapidly growing wealth, with critics and civil society actors questioning how she accumulated significant assets within a relatively short political career. As Speaker of Parliament, one of the most powerful positions in Uganda, Among has consistently dismissed allegations of wrongdoing, maintaining that her wealth is legitimate and derived from business interests and lawful earnings.
A major flashpoint in the debate over her wealth was the so-called “Rolls-Royce saga,” which drew widespread attention on social media and in political circles. Reports and images circulated online allegedly showing a high-end Rolls-Royce Cullinan linked to Among, fueling speculation about extravagant spending. While her supporters argued that successful politicians can afford luxury assets, critics pointed to the optics of such opulence in a country grappling with widespread poverty, intensifying calls for greater transparency.
Beyond luxury vehicles, Among is also reported to own multiple high-value properties in Uganda, particularly in prime areas of Kampala. These include upscale residential homes and commercial developments, which have further contributed to perceptions of immense personal wealth. Some reports claim that her real estate portfolio has expanded significantly since she rose to top political office, though precise details about the number and value of these properties remain largely undisclosed apart from the official residence in Nakasero and a luxury home in Kigo.
Internationally, controversy has also surrounded reports of a house allegedly linked to Among in the London area. The issue gained traction after anti-corruption campaigners and foreign observers raised questions about whether Ugandan public officials were investing in high-end properties abroad. While no definitive public record has conclusively detailed ownership under her name, the claims have nonetheless amplified scrutiny from both domestic and international audiences.
With raids on her homes, Anita Among’s massive wealth is coming to light.
