Director of Communication and Public Affairs at Parliament of Uganda Chris Obore has been arrested, according to reports.
Although it is said that Chris Obore was arrested from Mukono on Saturday, May 16, 2026, other reports suggested that he was still at large and that he had escape from an event in his home village after learning that there was an attempt to arrest him.
Some reports suggested that there was an arrest somewhere in a hotel in Mukono, with speculation rife that it could have been Obore.
At the moment, there is no confirmation that Obore has been arrested as reports claim.
Chris Obore has been mentioned as a corruption accomplice in allegations by civil society groups in their online campaign, Uganda Parliament Exhibition, showing billions of tax payers’ money diverted for private gain and for corporate social responsibility meant to build a support base for Anita Among.
By the time Anita Among was elected deputy speaker, Chris Obore had fallen out with Rebecca Kadaga, with his job on the line.
In days leading to reports of his arrest, Chris Obore wrote to defend Anita Among, saying evil plans had been hatched against AAA (Anita Annet Among).
“All evil plans against AAA are known. The planners are known. By God’s grace AAA has favor that she is informed in real time.They are using Speakership race as cover. But Speakership contest shouldnt generate tension over nothing. It will come & go. It’s only 529 people to vote,” wrote Obore on May 03, 2026.
On April 30, Obore had written: “All right thinking members of the public are hereby asked to be aware of the so many fake social media quotes being attributed to Speaker AAA. The race for speakership has degenerated to blackmail using social media agents. The idea is to make AAA respond but she will not.”
Chris Obore was seen drunk and shouting “we are now in things” as he celebrated when Anita Among became deputy speaker. Months earlier, there were reports that Obore had used witchcraft to try to get back his job. (See Details Here and There).
Meanwhile, UPDF and police CID operatives have raided the homes of Anita Among in Nakasero and Kigo for searches as a top Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) official said SFC would remain deployed at the residences until Jacob Oboth Oboth has become speaker of parliament, as reported Here.
It should be remembered that President Museveni has previously demanded answers on Anita Among’s wealth and its source. At one occasion, Anita Among explained how she was an entrepreneur with a string of businesses that earn her money. On another occasion, Museveni demanded answers on Anita Among’s house in London UK.
