First son Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has agreed to stop tweeting about the Russia-Ukraine war after pleas from his wife and South African friend Thomas Hasel.
Lt Gen Kainerugaba, the commander of the UPDF land forces, has openly expressed his support for Russia. (Read Story Here).
Opposition politicians like NUP’s Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine quickly blasted the first son for supporting Russia. (Read Story Here).
Uganda’s foreign ministry said there was nothing wrong with the first son expressing his views on the war, but quickly clarified that Kainerugaba’s opinion was not official government policy. Uganda abstained during a UN vote on the Russian-Ukrainian war.
Despite criticism from commentators parroting the pro-West viewpoint and propaganda, the tweeting general did not stop giving his views on the conflict.
But after requests by his wife Charlotte and friend Hasel, Museveni’s son says he will stop tweeting about the war.
“Also, Thomas Hasel as you requested and especially as my beautiful wife requested I shall refrain from commenting on the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Personally, I fear no one and nothing but for your sakes I relent,” he wrote.
