Rwanda’s government has announced that all its land borders will be fully reopened starting next week.
A communique issued by the Rwandan office of the prime minister indicates that the decision to reopen borders followed a cabinet meeting on Friday March 04.
The meeting sought to assess the state of Covid19 response measures.
“Land borders shall reopen starting Monday March 7th but people must be subject to random Covid-19 testing by the Ministry of Health upon entry,” read the communique in part.
This decision will come as relief to Ugandans who had been barred from crossing the Katuna/Gatuna border point.
Weeks ago, Rwanda reopened its Katuna border after almost three years of closure. But access has been limited to cargo. (Read Story Here).
Other border points that will be fully reopened on Monday include Rwanda’s border with Tanzania and the southern border with Burundi that has been closed since 2015.
