When Leaders Become Dealers Representing Their Stomachs, What Should Ugandans Do Besides Lamentations?

Nabendeh S.P. Wamoto

I and the rest of the population have been taken aback by information that members of parliament of Uganda took a bribe equivalent to a health Centre II each; i.e 100 M (one hundred million shillings) for no visible extra work done to the detriment and frustration of the general citizenry. What a national shame!!!

Before the above, last year the country was shocked when a group of same parliament schemers in a recording I had opportunity to listen to the three member dealers were criminally negotiating for a 20% share of the allocated budgetary allocation of Uganda Human Rights Commission headed by Ms Mariam Wangadya.

These same criminal dealers under the cover of helping farmer cooperatives through war compensation in alliance with officers at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives allocated themselves hundreds of billions of shillings.

While in the current House scandal, Bugisu sub region with a total number of 25 dealer members of parliament have bagged 2.5 billion and were still pretending that they had taken nothing until the chief sponsor, my friend General (retired) Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni came out openly and said truly he knows about the money that has and is changing hands in support of the biblical scripture, Leviticus 5:1 “if you have the factual evidence and withhold it, it is sin”. Thank you your Excellency for the evidence.

The former President of the Common Wealth Association Ms. Josylyne Bourgon said “a leader is the person who guides the efforts of a group (nation) towards a result beyond the current reach.

And with brutal honesty I can advise that no leader leads perpetually (all the time) and shouldn’t be necessarily members of parliament – they can come from anywhere in the country or organization. They (leaders) also can know how to follow the lead of others and rely on the strength of others (citizens) in the case of “members of parliament”.

And a call to action to the Ugandan voters, hyenas are around us, the Shs. 100 M would be targeting to bribe you also so that you give the predators (dealers)to eat us again after the 2025/2026 general elections. This warning is amplified by Kenya’s professor P.L.O Lumumba who once said “Africans are led by their stomachs not their heads (brains)”.

Ugandans pay taxes under a lot of duress but are governed by fear and fear is a function of lack of knowledge. To conquer and dispel fear, Ugandans need to reduce our ignorance. “Which Ugandan does not know that taxation without accountability is tyranny?” if parliament is stealing taxes, who then will call for accountability?

If the Head of State by-passes the accountability notion, disburses Ugandan money much of it borrowed and America’s Trump is holding unto American tax payers’ purse and we cannot put a finger on the Vote where the a hundred million was drawn from, aren’t we frustrating the security allocations hence hindering the actual defense and security activities.

Martin Luther junior said “the most dangerous animal in the world is not a lion, a cheetah, a tiger not a python but an educated person without character.” There is also a saying in Singapore that when you open a window at night for fresh air, mosquitoes also come in.

The Ugandan members of parliament can rightly be called mosquitoes having become dealers and ceased to be leaders.

We have no parliament, because the word parliament is a Latin word meaning parler “to speak” and speak on representative basis so we the citizens are no longer represented, the men and women who sit at parliamentary avenue represent themselves, their stomachs, their families and some extent the executive which they were meant to check. They are dead.

It is trying to put (keep) a bandage on a gaping wound or put simply, a situation of jackals fighting over a rotten carcass, where the current “parliamentarians” were tormenting their predecessors whom they shamelessly rebuked that they were thieves, reckless, and abominable.

In the end, Satan becomes the ultimate scape goat that may be he tempted them but how did Satan go through the strict security checks at parliament?
