House of Prayer Ministries International (HPMI) lead Pastor Aloysius Bujjingo has asked NBS TV CEO Kin Kariisa, whom he claimed was a fellow Munyarwanda or Muvandimwe, to tell him why the stations he heads have been publicizing his ‘fake degree’ story.
On June 10, Pastor Bujjingo was one of the students who graduated with a degree of Theology and Integrated Studies at Kayiwa International University (KINTU), an institution owned by his friend Pastor Simeone Kayiwa of Namirembe Christian Fellowship Church.
But before Bujjingo could even fully celebrate his achievement, a statement attributed to the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) indicated that Kayiwa International University (KINTU) was not licensed and that the degrees awarded to Bujjingo and his friend were fake.
NCHE says it licensed KINTU on September 28, 2015, and gazetted the same institution in April 2016 under license number ULPL027.
However, in 2018, the council informed KINTU that its license would be revoked if it failed to fix quality assurance issues raised within just six months.
“On 23rd August 2019 during the 52nd sitting of the council revoked the license and this was gazetted in March 2020, published in the media and KINTU was informed,” NCHE’s statement further read.
“We want to inform the General Public that the awards arising from today’s graduation by the defunct KINTU are not recognized by NCHE and should not be used for employment or further studies in Uganda or anywhere in the world.”
During the Sunday, June 12 service at his Kikoni-based Canaan Land church, Bujjingo accused Kin Kariisa and platforms under Next Media Services for not balancing the story regarding KINTU’s fake degrees.
The controversial pastor was also concerned that the media had singled out him out of all the graduands from KINTU. He wondered why people who had been criticizing him for failing to secure a university degree were now the one labelling his degree fake.
In particular, Bujjingo singled out NBS CEO Kin Kariisa, saying he wants to meet him one day so that he can explain to him why he and his stations hate him, and why they have always focused on stories that show his weaknesses and reportedly seek to pull him down.
The pastor even wondered why a fellow Munyarwanda or Muvandimwe (meaning Kin Kariisa) was busy using his stations to expose his weaknesses and sink him. He also said he would ask Bavandimwe boss Frank Gashumba to talk to Kariisa to stop exposing him.
Bujjingo further claimed that even when Kariisa was his boss under the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), he had for about five years used looked on as his stations ‘crucify’ him.
