TRAGEDY STRIKES! University Student Killed, Several Others Injured in Pickup Truck Accident During Guild Campaign Rally

A student at Metropolitan International University in Biharwe, Mbarara City died in an accident involving a pickup truck during a guild campaign procession. Others were injured during the incident.

The deceased was identified as Desire Kankunda. The injured were rushed to Mayanja Memorial Hospital for treatment following the March 21 accident.

Kankunda and her colleagues were aboard a pickup truck which overturned in a playground in Biharwe.

The accident raised concerns on campaign rallies and procession for university guild elections, with some blaming reckless driving.

In some guild rallies at some university campuses, there have been violent scenes between rival camps, sometimes leading to injuries and death.

Years ago, a student who had travelled from Uganda Christian University (UCU) Mukono to support an old boy at Makerere University lost his life in guild campaign chaos between rival camps. (See Details Here and There).

Elsewhere, a UTC Bushenyi student, who had gone out to have fun, was found dead, while a young woman died after taking drinks with a bar cashier at a top Kampala hangout. (See Details Here and There).
