The Education Service Commission (ESC) has confirmed the appointments of 253 teaching personnel serving in primary schools under the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA).
The confirmation was announced in a notice dated August 5, 2026, signed by Mohammed Kaaya on behalf of the Secretary of the Education Service Commission.
According to the Commission, the confirmations were made in accordance with Articles 167, 168 and 172 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, 1995, which mandate the ESC to manage appointments, confirmations and other human resource functions within the education service.
“The Secretary, Education Service Commission informs Teaching Personnel whose names appear in the lists attached that they have been confirmed in service,” the notice states.
The Commission directed all affected teachers to contact the Executive Director of the Kampala Capital City Authority to obtain their official confirmation letters.
The confirmed teachers are drawn from dozens of KCCA primary schools spread across the city, including Nakivubo Primary School, Munyonyo Primary School, Ggaba Demonstration School, Kansanga Primary School, Kiswa Primary School, Buganda Road Primary School, Kawempe Church of Uganda Primary School, and Kawempe Mbogo Primary School.
Others include Luzira Church of Uganda Primary School, KCC Primary School in Kamwokya, Bat Valley Primary School, Murchison Bay Primary School, Kisugu Church of Uganda Primary School, Naguru Katali Primary School, St. Peter’s Primary School Nsambya, Kitante Primary School, Kampala Primary School and several others.
The exercise also covered teachers serving in specialised institutions such as Uganda School for the Deaf in Ntinda, Mulago School for the Deaf, Uganda Spastics Primary School and Kampala School for the Physically Handicapped.
Confirmation in appointment is a significant milestone in Uganda’s public service, as it grants employees permanent and pensionable status.
The latest confirmation exercise is expected to strengthen staffing stability across KCCA-managed schools, where teachers play a critical role in delivering primary education to thousands of learners in Kampala.
