Sudhir Reaps Big as State House Seeks Billions to Rent Offices for Mbabazi, Ssekandi, Elly Tumwine & Others at Kingdom Kampala

City tycoon Sudhir Ruparelia will soon smile to the bank for more billions from government after State House revealed it needed a supplementary budget of Shs3.3bn to rent offices for over 20 special presidential advisors, including former prime ministers Amama Mbabazi and Ruhakana Rugunda, ex-vice president Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi and former ministers Elly Tumwine, Amelia Kyambadde, Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi and Sarah Kanyike.

Most of these presidential advisors were dropped from cabinet in June 2021.

On November 05, Yunus Kakande, the permanent secretary in the office of the president, led a team of officials from the presidency to request a supplementary budget to the tune of Shs36bn, part of which will be used to rent offices for presidential advisors in businessman Sudhir Ruparelia’s Kingdom Kampala building.

Sudhir is already earning a lot from the Ugandan tax payer.

At his Kampala Kingdom building, the tycoon hosts 323 MPs whose offices are housed here. Parliament will pay Sudhir for the office rent Shs18bn for a period of two years.

Mbabazi, Rugunda and others are expected to start using their offices in January 2022.

Another Shs1.5bn of this supplementary budget will also go to Sudhir Ruparelia as payment for the hosting, at his Commonwealth Resort, Munyonyo, of high profile leaders who attended President Museveni’s inauguration in May 2021.

Part of the requested supplementary budget will also be spent on:

Payment of court awards to former Makerere University Chancellor Prof Mondo Kagonyera: Shs3.9bn

Operationalization of the Apex Platform: Shs3bn

Procurement of station wagons for the Ministry of Economic Monitoring: Shs500m
