A pastor at a Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAG) Church has died a day after a demon-possessed man kicked him during deliverance prayers on Christmas eve.
The deceased has been identified as Pastor John Michael Ekamu, aged 52, of PAG Church in Ocuko Village, Omagara Parish, Kateta Subcounty, Serere District.
A resident of Osokotoit Village in Kateta Subcounty, Pastor Ekamu was reportedly kicked by a one Osagani, aged 30, from Mutebe Village in Omagara Parish.
Osagani is said to have returned from Kampala on December 24, 2024, only for his father to insist that he be taken to PAG for deliverance prayers to kick the demons out of him.
But as the deliverance prayers went on, the youthful Osagani is said to have kicked Pastor Ekamu who fell down but later rose up on his feet to continue with the prayers. An overnight prayer happened that night. Ekamu was in attendance in the night prayer.
Hours later, there was shock on Christmas Day when, during the prayer session, Ekamu collapsed on the pulpit. He declined a request to be rushed to hospital, telling his church members that he certain that satan had lost the battle.
However, when his health condition deteriorated, his church members had no option but to rush him to Serere Health Center IV where an X-ray examination indicated damage to his pancreas.
Health workers at the facility tried to save his life through surgery. Sadly, at about 3pm, Pastor Ekamu breathed his last.
Police have since arrested Osagani, whose father believed was demon possessed, and the man accused of kicking Pastor Ekamu.
