Until her appointment by President Yoweri Museveni as the new Executive Director of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Hajat Sharifah Buzeki was not known to many Ugandans. But her name is will soon become commonplace given the weight of the matter at hand: KCCA and its perennial challenges. So, who exactly is new KCCA Executive Director Hajat Sharifah Buzeki?
Hajat Sharifah Buzeki Quick Profile
Hajat Sharifah Buzeki is a human resources professional. The new KCCA ED holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences from the Islamic University in Uganda, a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and Management and a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management.
She also holds certificates in Conflict Management, Leadership and Change Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Training of Trainers, and Facilitation skills.
As a human resources practitioner, Hajat Sharifah Buzeki has experience in both local and central government human resources development and management.
Overall, Hajat Sharifah Buzeki boasts of nearly 15 years of experience human resource management and related areas such as human resource audit, institution development, inspection and supervisory regimes, and performance management.
By the time of her appointment as the new KCCA Executive Director, she was the Commissioner for Human Resource Management (HRM) at the Ministry of Public Service (MoPS).
She was responsible for heading efforts for the design and implementation of inspection programs. Her role also made her the coordinator of the pilot implementation of the Pearl of Africa Performance Scorecard.
Buzeki’s role also offered support to Ministries, Departments, Agencies (MDAs), and Local Governments (LGs) in documenting and applying service delivery standards, integrating Results-Oriented Management (ROM) and Outputs-Oriented Budgeting (OOB) into work processes, and developing and implementing Client Charters.
