A fired Museveni RDC has refused to leave office, prompting the presidency to assign her would-be successor to another district.
Amidst chaos in the Rwampara District woman MP seat’s primaries for the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), the presidency announced the sacking of RDC Harriet Nakamya.
Even a replacement for Nakamya had been found and sent to Rwampara. Retired Major Godfrey Katamba, who was supposed to replace RDC Harriet Nakamya, had been undeployed for some time.
So, being that RDC transfers take immediate effect, Katamba moved to take over from Nakamya in Rwampara.
But he was blocked by Nakamya who insisted she would not leave the office until President Yoweri Museveni himself has called her and told her to hand over office.
The Pearl Times understands that transfers of RDCs (Resident District Commissioners), RCCs (Resident City Commissioners), their deputies and assistants is not necessarily done by President Yoweri Museveni but rather by officials in the office of the minister for presidency (currently Milly Babirye Babalanda).
That’s why there were previously shocking allegations of RDC jobs being sold for Shs20m by officials in Minister Babalanda’s office. (See Details Here and There).
So, RDC Nakamya seemed to suspect that the transfers were not necessarily by Museveni himself. In fact, Nakamya insisted that her role in the NRM primary election for Rwampara District woman MP that pitted Annah Kansiime and Molly Asiimwe Musiime, was the reason for her transfer.

In Nakamya’s view, the mafia wanted to subvert the will of the NRM voters and were not happy with her reportedly standing in their way.
Blocked from taking over office, Retired Major Godfrey Katamba was left with no option but to wait.
Days later, he was appointed as RDC for Kabale District. He takes over from Godfrey Nyakahuma who has been transferred to Kaberamaido District.
