Two security guards were killed in a raid by unidentified assailants at a petrol station in Mukono District.
The incident happened in the wee hours of Thursday, 01 May 2025, at Chard Energy petrol station along Katosi Road in Mukono District.
Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) spokesperson Patrick Onyango said the attack happened at about 4am on Thursday.
The assailants hit the security guards at Chard Energy petrol station with a blunt object, killing them, before taking their firearm which had five rounds of ammunition.
The security guards were identified as Deo Senabulya, who was aged 50, and Joseph Onyait, who was 25 years old.
The assailants were not yet done, they robbed pump attendants, identified as Tessa Jovita, aged 23; and Kevin Domanye, aged 22, of about Shs3m.
They also took off the pump attendants’ mobile phones, threatening to shoot them with the very gun grabbed from the security guards if they (the pump attendants) dared to resist.
The assailants would later drop the rifle near the railway line after the raid at the petrol station, according to KMP spokesperson Onyango.
Police scene of crime officers went to the petrol station, took statements and documented any pieces of evidence available.
The bodies of the deceased were conveyed to Mulago National Referral Hospital for post-mortem examination as the hunt for the assailants continues.
In recent years, attacks on petrol stations have increased.
Meanwhile, the attack happened after UPDF soldiers raided Lubowa Police Station, beat up police officers and their commander. (See Details Here).
It should also be remembered that days ago, a security guard was killed in an attempted robbery at a bank, and days after a robber was killed in an attack at a salon. (See Details Here and There).
