Ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidates have swept youth MP elections 2026, according to results released by returning officers. Let us look at the winners and losers of youth MP elections 2026:
We begin at Ntare School in Mbarara City where the NRM’s Mwine Tumwebaze Kirimi won the Western Youth MP election. Tumwebaze got 1,557 votes.
Ishmail Atwijukire, the Returning Officer, declared Mwine Tumwebaze the newly elected Youth Member of Parliament for the Western Region after announcing results:
- Mwine Tumwebaze Kirimi (NRM) – 1,557 votes
- Babra Nakandi (Independent) – 404 votes
- Denis Musinguzi (Independent) – 19 votes
- Deborah Owekisa (NUP) – 9 votes
- Reinold Mujuni (Independent) – 8 votes
- Martha Kihumuro (Jema) – 3 votes
- Manful Abeneitwe (FDC) – 2 votes
- Innocent Barigye (ANT) – 1 vote
- Blessious Namirembe (DP) – 1 vote
In Masaka City, Samuel Begira of the NRM) was declared the winner of the Youth MP Central Region seat. Among those he beat was Churchill James Ssentamu, the Makerere University Guild President and nephew to opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.
While Ssentamu managed only 34 votes, Begira Samuel had 1,001 votes.
Also winning were NRM’s Elma Kapela Challa who was elected as the Youth MP for the Northern Region, and Judas Thadeo Wanyama who won Eastern region.
