Results for the municipality and city division mayor elections held on January 27, 2026 are beginning to trickle after hours of tallying. The municipality mayor elections were held in various cities and municipalities. In cities such as Kampala Capital City, Lira, Soroti, Gulu, Mbarara, Jinja, Mbale, Hoima, Fort Portal, Masaka, and Arua, there were elections for division mayors: Nakawa, Kawempe, Rubaga, Central Division and Makindye.
For municipalities like Ibanda, Mubende, municipality mayor elections were held.

We begin in Soroti City, as well as in the municipalities of Mukono, Mubende, Ibanda, Rukungiri and Sheema:
In Mubende District, results obtained by The Pearl Times indicate that Innocent Sekiziyivu, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) was declared municipality mayor-elect after getting 8,719 votes, beating Andrew Walubi of the National Unity Platform (NUP) with 4,108 votes, and independent candidate Denis Zziwa with 355 votes, according to results announced by returning officer Ferdinand Tumwesigye.
In Mukono, The Pearl Times can confirm that Robert Kabanda of NUP is mayor-elect of Mukono Municipality. Results announced by returning Officer Emily Amongin indicate that Robert Kabanda got 13,112 votes, beating Micdadi Mulimila of NRM who got 5,054 votes as incumbent Erisa Nkoyooyo, trailed with 2283 votes.
Ibanda Municipality
In Ibanda Municiplaity, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer Peter Agaba is the MP elect after getting 14,279 votes. He beat independent candidate Innocent Mwine Bakamuhara who had 12,904 votes and another independent candidate, Sarapio Betungura, with 177 votes. For the Ibanda Municipality Mayor election, Independent candidate Deus Murinde won the election. He got 13,508 votes to beat National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer Johnson Kanyomozi, who got 13,423 votes.
The Pearl Times has also confirmed that Boaz Kansiime Matita of the NRM, is the Rukungiri municipality mayor elect after winning with 5,759 votes beating Denis Ngabirano of PFF who got 5,126 votes.
In Sheema Municipality, The Pearl Times can confirm that Lukia Nakalisa of the NRM is the newly elected mayor after polling 12,492 votes, according to results announced by Sheema returning officer Pius Ahimbisibwe at Sheema Central Division Hall before midnight Tuesday. Nakalisa beat independent candidate Moses Basigaraho Bisweko who got 9,099 votes and Bravo Tumusingize who had 1,613 votes.
In Mbarara City North Division, we can confirm that independent candidate Gumisiriza Kyabwisho has beaten four challengers to retain his position. Kyabwisho got 8,183 votes.
In Soroti East Division, The Pearl Times has confirmed that the NRM candidate has won the election. The results we obtained are as follows:
- Winner: Abdul Latif Wali (NRM) – 11,003 votes.
- Runner‑up: Gabriel Ogire (FDC) – 3,204 votes.
- Third place: Wilfred Onyango (Independent) – 424 votes.
- Fourth place: Solomon Epuru (NUP) – 217 votes.
- Fifth place: Moses Onyait (PFF) – 171 votes.
- Sixth place: Tom Okilan (Independent) – 159 votes.
- Seventh place: Elias Ewachu (DF) – 74 votes.
The incumbent was FDC’s Paul Omer who chose not to seek re‑election after losing the Soroti City mayoral bid.
The Pearl Times can also confirm that Kamuli Returning Officer Kenneth Kayabwe has declared Fred Balinango of the ruling NRM as the winner of the Kamuli Municipality mayor election. Balinango got 4,472 votes, beating independent candidate Peter Kaluuba who got 2,310 votes.

- In Kabale Municipality, Mayor Emmanuel Sentaro Byamugisha has won a third term, aKabale District Returning Officer Aisha Nansubuga announced him winner. An independent candidate, Byamugisha got 8,270 votes, defeating NRM’s Sam Arinaitwe who managed 5,292 votes.
- In the the Kimanya-Kabonera Division mayoral race (Masaka City), Moses Mulinde of the NRM, won. Results announced by Masaka City Returning Officer Gracious Aryaija indicate that Mulinde garnered 5,603 votes, beating NUP’s Moses Kibuuka who got 5,450 votes, DF’s Joseph Ssekeba who got 1,763 votes, independent candidate Hamidu Bukenya with 556 and another independent Abud Kasujja with 478 votes.
- In the race for Mayor of Mbarara City South Division, Jomo Mugabi of NRM won. Mugabi got 14,277 votes, beating independent candidate Francis Ntengye who got 5,562 votes, Maryfrances Kabaterine of the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) with 315 votes, Quraish Segawa of the National Unity Platform (NUP) with 764 votes, and Reagan Byamukama of FDC with 86 votes.
- In the Hoima West Division mayoral race, Julius Kyomuhendo Bahemuka won. He got 5,955 votes, beating Robert Ruhigwa of NRM who got 3,952 votes.
- In the race for Mayor of North Division in Fort Portal City, Joseph Kiiza Mashuhuko, the incumbent and of the NRM, won. He got 7,183 votes, beating independent candidate Mathias Kintu who got 2,884 votes.
- In Kisoro Municipality mayoral race, John Mbonigaba won. Mbonigaba, an independent candidate, got 4,189 votes, beating Alex Nambajimana of NRM who had 1,798 votes.
- Allan Bulamu of NRM won the Kira Municipality Mayor election. Bulamu got 17,170 votes, beating Norman Kabogoza of NUP who got 13,475 votes, and Julius Mutebi of PFF with 10,715 votes, according to results released by Wakiso District Returning Officer Tolbert Musinguzi.
- Incumbent Fabrice Rulinda of the NRM won the Entebbe Municipality mayoral election after garnering, 6,704 votes. He beat independent candidate Micheal Kabwama who got 2,746 votes and Richard Ssekyondo of NUP who got 2,630 votes.
- Johnbosco Sserunkuuma of the NUP has won the Nansana Municipality mayor election. He got 19,468 votes, beating Hamidu Nsubuga Kizito of the NRM who got 9,690 votes.
