There have been reports of death of Mukono Municipality NRM MP aspirant Andrew Ssenyonga since he was allegedly beaten by police officers on Thursday, July 17, 2025.
Ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party went to the polls to choose flag bearers for parliamentary seats ahead of the 2026 elections.

But there were reports of massive bribery, vote rigging and chaos across the country, with a number of candidates already rejecting the results approved by the Dr Tanga Odoi Electoral Commission and opting to stand as independents.
The chaos in Mukono saw Andrew Ssenyonga and his brother Lauben Ssenyonjo reportedly beaten and hospitalized.
Ssenyonga is a former Mukono District chairman while Ssenyonjo is a councilor in the same district.
The two had gone with about 30 supporters to the Mukono Police Station to follow up on the arrest and detention of the registrar for Goma Division who has been identified as Joseph Sulume.
The NRM registrar had reportedly been arrested and locked at the Mukono Police Station for trying to change results to favour Ssenyonga.
But Ssenyonga and Ssenyonjo were reportedly beaten up by police officers.
Mukono Deputy RDC Hassan Kasibante gave a different stand on the events, with local reports quoting him as saying that he claimed that the NRM parliamentary aspirant had mobilized his supporters to raid the police station and grab guns.
Kasibante even claimed that Ssenyonga had over 100 supporters and that most of them had stones and machetes in the raid.
Injured Ssenyonga and Ssenyonjo were rushed to Mukono Church of Uganda Hospital where they were referred to Mengo Hospital.
There were reports that Ssenyonga had succumbed to his injuries but The Pearl Times has learnt that he was still alive – and so was his brother.
