Main opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) deputy spokesperson Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro has alleged that his PFF opponent Michael Kabaziguruka caused his arrest.
Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro was arrested at a court of law on Monday. He was brought to Kawempe Magistrates Court.
A grade one magistrate read to him charges of unlawful drilling and conspiracy to commit a felony. He was remanded to Luzira Prison until September 29, 2025.
Mufumbiro said the charges against him were trumped up, and that the fact that he was picked from a court of law means that the laws in Uganda do not work.
He also argued that the judiciary, legislature and executive were intertwined to keep President Yoweri Museveni in power.
He also noted that he believed that his arraignment would waste the time of courts of law which should be spending time on working on the case backlog and dispensing justice to Ugandans who have been waiting for years.
Mufumbiro, who is seeking the Nakawa East MP seat on the NUP ticket, also made wild claims: that his opponent Michael Kabaziguruka of the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) was behind his arrest.
