Ugandan President Gen Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni has ‘amended his cabinet,’ appointing new faces and dropping some ministers in a mini cabinet reshuffle announced on Thursday, March 21, 2024.

Museveni appointed Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) Gen Wilson Mbasu Mbadi Minister of State (junior minister) for trade at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives (MTIC).

Museveni is expected to appoint a new CDF to replace Gen Mbadi.

The president also appointed events promoter, NRM campaigner and sworn Muhoozi Project diehard supporter Balaam Barugahara State Minister in charge of youth and children affairs at the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development (MGLSD).

Also appointed junior minister is outgoing principal private secretary (PPS) Kenneth Omona who will now become State Minister for Northern Uganda.

Museveni is expected to appoint a new PPS.

Museveni also appointed Phiona Nyamutoro, the national female youth MP, minister of state for minister at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD).

Also the ruling NRM national chairman, Museveni has also appointed Kitgum District Woman MP Lillian Aber Minister of State in charge of Relief, Disaster Preparedness and refugees  in the Office of the Prime Minister.

“I hereby inform the country that By virtue of the authority given to the President of Uganda by Articles: 108(2), 108A(1), 113(1), and 114(1) of the 1995 Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, that here below I publish a slightly amended list of the cabinet of Uganda,” wrote Museveni as he unveiled his amended cabinet list.
