Speaker Anita Among has registered a sweeping victory in her home sub region of Teso as delegates totally rejected former speaker and current deputy prime minister Rebecca Kadaga.
Anita Among is challenging incumbent Rebecca Kadaga for the position of second national vice chairperson (female) of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) Central Executive Committee (CEC).
Provisional results obtained by The Pearl Times Decision Desk indicate that delegates in Teso sub region overwhelmingly voted for Anita Among. In most districts, Kadaga got no vote.
A single vote for Kadaga that came from a delegate in Katakwi came as a surprise to fellow delegates.
Here is how delegates from Teso sub region voted:
- Bukedea: Anita Among = 91 votes; Rebecca Kadaga = 00
- Soroti District: Anita Among = 63 votes; Rebecca Kadaga = 00
- Amuria: Anita Among = 73 votes; Rebecca Kadaga = 00
- Kaberamaido: Anita Among = 63 votes; Rebecca Kadaga = 00
- Kalaki: Anita Among = 58 votes; Rebecca Kadaga = 00
- Serere: Anita Among = 67 votes; Rebecca Kadaga = 00
- Katakwi: Anita Among = 98 votes; Rebecca Kadaga = 01
- Kumi: Anita Among = 131 votes; Rebecca Kadaga = 00
- Soroti City: Anita Among = 119 votes; Rebecca Kadaga = 00
- Ngora: Anita Among = 66 votes; Rebecca Kadaga = 00
- Kapelebyong: Anita Among = 70 votes; Rebecca Kadaga = 00
