President Kagame, Muhoozi Kainerugaba and Museveni
First son and Commander Land Forces Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba says Rwandan President Paul Kagame is his ‘uncle’ and those fighting him and Kigali should stop.
Uganda and Rwanda have in recent years been at loggerheads, with Kigali even closing its Katuna/Gatuna border over the row.
Attempts to resolve the disagreements between Kagame and President Yoweri Museveni have not yielded fruit.
The two countries accuse each other of working to uproot the sitting governments through intelligence an security maneuvers.
Months ago, there were claims that Kagame was using spying software against Ugandan government officials. (Read story here).
Kagame also accused Museveni of being a regional bully, but the Ugandan leader denied the claims.
Now, CLF Lt Gen Kainerugaba, a top administrator in the Ugandan national army, seems to be playing some mediation role in resolving the tension between his father and his Rwandan ‘uncle.’
In what may appear shocking to observers of the Uganda-Rwanda crisis, Kainerugaba has warned those fighting Kagame.
“This is my uncle, Afande Paul Kagame. Those who fight him are fighting my family. They should all be careful,” warned the ‘tweeting general.’
