MP Helen Nakimuli funeral program has been released by the main opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) and Parliament of Uganda.
The official funeral program for fallen Kalangala District Woman Member of Parliament Hellen Nakimuli outlines a series of rites and tributes to honor her life and service.
According to the program, the final send-off activities will commence on Monday 20th April 2026, marking the beginning of a four-day schedule that will see leaders, family, and the public pay their last respects.
The program indicates that proceedings will begin with the commencement of rites, where the cortege will depart for Kalangala via Nakiwogo in Entebbe. The ferry was scheduled to depart at 14:00 hrs.
On Tuesday 21st April 2026, the late legislator will be accorded local government honors, including a special district council session and public viewing to be held in Kalangala.
The following day, Wednesday 22nd April 2026, will be dedicated to a parliamentary tribute and vigil. The late Honorable member will lie in state at Parliament for tribute, followed by honors at the National Unity Platform (NUP) headquarters. A vigil will later be held at the family residence in Namungoona.
The program will conclude on Thursday 23rd April 2026 with a requiem service and interment. A requiem mass will be celebrated at Namungoona Orthodox Church, after which the final interment will take place in Luwero District.
Nakimuli’s death has left a significant void in both Parliament and her constituency, with leaders across the political divide expected to attend the scheduled events in her honor.
