Nakimuli’s sudden passing has sparked concern among the public and political leaders, particularly following reports that she had undergone a medical procedure at Alexandra Medical Center shortly before her death.
The postmortem examination results were expected to rest the issue of MP Helen Nakimuli cause of death.
But results from the postmortem examination done by pathologists at the Mulago National Referral Hospital were inconclusive, according to leader of opposition in parliament (LOP) Joel Ssenyonyi.
A team of pathologists at Mulago is expected to conduct further investigations, including a detailed review of the surgery performed at the private facility.
The move is aimed at determining whether the procedure could have contributed to the legislator’s demise.
Mulago National Referral Hospital has since released the body of MP Helen Nakimuli.
According to Ssenyonyi, who is also the main opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) party spokesperson and Nakawa West MP, the pathologists are expected to release their final and comprehensive report on MP Helen Nakimuli cause of death “soon.”
“This morning, we received the body of Hon Hellen Nakimuli from Mulago City Mortuary, where a postmortem examination was carried out,” said Ssenyonyi.
“The pathologists say the cause of death has not been ascertained yet, but further tests are being carried out, including an assessment of the surgery that took place yesterday. They have informed us that a comprehensive report will be issued soon.”
Medical experts say such additional tests are standard in cases where initial findings are inconclusive, especially when recent surgical procedures are involved.
